Spurs vs Sheffield United | Micky van de Ven exclusive in the programme!

Fri 15 September 2023, 15:45|Tottenham Hotspur

Micky van de Ven admits he cannot wait to hear the Spurs faithful in full voice in N17 once again tomorrow.

As we gear up to welcome Sheffield United to north London in the Premier League this weekend, it’s incredible to think that - midway through September - we’ve so far only had one competitive home game this season.

That was, of course, the Dutch defender’s home debut when we beat Manchester United 2-0 at a rocking Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, when the fans created a sensational atmosphere to which the players responded, blowing United away with two second-half goals.

Since then, we’ve been on the road with games against Bournemouth, Fulham and Burnley before the recent international window, giving tomorrow’s game a ‘homecoming’ feel to it.

The atmosphere is incredible and the fans are really good, I hear them singing my song which is really cool and something I enjoy as a player

Micky van de Ven interviewed in our official matchday programme

Speaking in an exclusive interview in the matchday programme for the clash against the Blades, Micky - who has settled seamlessly into the centre of our defence alongside Cristian Romero since his arrival from Wolfsburg - says he couldn’t believe that incredible noise from the stands last time out here and is excited to experience it again.

"My first time at home was a huge game for Spurs, against United, I spoke with [James] Maddison and [Yves] Bissouma before, and they said to enjoy the moment,” he explained.

“Then we came on the pitch and everybody was singing and I was like 'what is going on here?!' - it was amazing. You want to enjoy the moment so much, but because I was so focused on the game I couldn't really take it all in.

“But when I saw the video afterwards, you just felt it in the team and the stadium - it was crazy! The atmosphere is incredible and the fans are really good, I hear them singing my song which is really cool and something I enjoy as a player."
