Parrott gets off the mark in the Netherlands with a stunner

Troy Parrott opened his Eredivisie goalscoring account in style on Saturday with a corker in Excelsior Rotterdam's 3-0 win over Heerenveen.

Making his third substitute appearance for the Netherlands-based outfit, who he joined on loan in August, as they travelled north to Heerenveen on Saturday night, the striker entered the fray from the bench for the final 17 minutes - and he certainly made his mark.

With his side two to the good at that point, Troy went on to add a third in the 88th minute. Starting the move off inside his own half, he helped his team go from defence to attack in a flash before Kian Fitz-Jim cut the ball back to the Irishman on the edge of the box, who curled into the top right hand corner spectacularly.

The goal was Troy's first since a strike for Preston, who he spent the 2022/23 season loan with, at Swansea City in April. The win saw Excelsior move up to seventh in the Eredivisie table with two wins and three draws from their first six games (lost one).
