When it comes to hosting Sheffield United in north London, we have quite the record.
Welcoming the Blades on six occasions to N17 since the dawn of the Premier League, we have gone unbeaten in that time in all competitions (four wins, two draws).
Beginning with the Yorkshire side's trip to White Hart Lane in the inaugural season of England's reformed top flight in September, 1992, to their latest visits to our doors - another Premier League clash in May, 2021 - lets take a quick look back at each of those fruitful clashes...
Spurs 2-0 Sheffield United | September, 1992
White Hart Lane | Premier League
We begin with a rather momentous night in our Premier League story as it was in our first meeting with Sheffield United in the reformed top flight that we picked up our first three points.
After a slow start to the competition with three draws and two defeats from our opening five, matchday six brought about the spoils with a commanding performance against the Blades.
That night, the now legendary Teddy Sheringham was making his first appearance for us at White Hart Lane and he was the man to open the scoring, getting his first of 122 goals for the Club just before the half-time break.
Gordon Durie then wrapped up the points in the second half with a cheeky effort from the left angle.
Spurs 2-2 Sheffield United | March, 1994
White Hart Lane | Premier League
The following term, our clash with Sheffield United was less than straight forward as we twice had to come from behind to take a point against the Blades at home.
After a fairly uneventful first half, the visitors took the lead with centre-back Brian Gayle prodding home from close range on 56 minutes, but we were level nine minutes later with a central defender of our own, Kevin Scott, heading home Darren Anderton's free-kick.
With five minutes to go though, it looked like the Yorkshire side had taken all three points as Nathan Blake fired home spectacularly after being threaded through. But we weren't to be be beaten with us salvaging a point right at the last with Jason Dozzell converting from close range.
Spurs 2-0 Sheffield United | August, 2006
White Hart Lane | Premier League
It wouldn't be for almost another 12 years until we would welcome Sheffield United back to White Hart Lane but it was an encounter that we came out on top of once more, as we defeated the Blades 2-0 in August, 2006.
Replicating our 2-0 win over United from that first meeting back in September, 1992, it was another legend that opened their Spurs account on their home debut on this occasion as Dimitar Berbatov had the simple task of tapping into an open net with just seven minutes gone after great play from Aaron Lennon on the right.
The Bulgarian then assisted Jermaine Jenas for our second just 10 minutes later as we responded well after an opening weekend defeat at Bolton Wanderers.
Spurs 1-0 Sheffield United | January, 2015
White Hart Lane | League Cup semi-final, first leg
We had to wait another nine years before we hosted Sheffield United again, and this time they made the trip to north London as a League One side.
They might have suffered two relegations since their return to the Premier League in 2006, but the Yorkshire gave us quite the game in north London. They proved quite the stubborn opponent at White Hart Lane but we did eventually edge the contest as, after Jay McEveley was penalised for a handball in the box on 74 minutes, Andros Townsend stepped up to dispatch the penalty.
That wasn't the end of the tie though as, despite doubling our lead 28 minutes into the return leg through Christian Eriksen, a young Che Adams produced a quick-fire double late in the second half at Bramall Lane to cancelled out our advantage. Yet, we would ultimately book our place in the final as a strike from Eriksen with two minutes to spare sent us to Wembley.
Spurs 1-1 Sheffield United | November, 2019
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | Premier League
Four years later and Sheffield United had journeyed up from League One and were back in the big time when they next visited us in November, 2019.
Under the stewardship of Chris Wilder and utilising his overlapping centre-back tactic, the Blades made the trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and impressed.
It was an end-to-end clash in N17 with both sides causing each other problems but it was us who broke deadlock as Heung-Min Son was gifted an opportunity on 58 minutes and made no mistake, guiding home from close range. The visitors pushed for an equaliser though and managed to get one with 12 minutes remaining as George Baldock's cross drifted into the far corner.
Spurs 4-0 Sheffield United | May, 2021
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | Premier League
It might have been a closely fought-encounter between the sides in November, 2019, but, two years later, there was no contest in our last meeting as we ran our 4-0 winners in May, 2021.
Playing behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions, Gareth Bale starred for us as he struck his first hat-trick for us since his treble against Aston Villa in December, 2012.
Heung-Min Son then scored once again against the Blades, curling home from the edge of the area on 77 minutes to wrap up the scoring in N17.
