Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg popped up with an 86th-minute goal to give Denmark a 1-0 victory in Finland on Sunday evening.
The midfielder, who once again put in a full shift for his country, fired home a low shot from the edge of the box with time running out, after his side had largely dominated proceedings in Helsinki.
The result saw Denmark take a big step towards qualification for next summer’s Euro 2024 finals as they leapfrogged their hosts in the Group H standings and are now second, behind Slovenia only on goals scored.
It was Pierre’s second goal in as many games for Denmark after he also hit the target in Thursday’s 4-0 home win over San Marino.
He’s now scored seven goals in 69 senior international appearances.
Elsewhere on Sunday evening, Micky van de Ven was an unused substitute for the Netherlands, who came from a goal down to beat the Republic of Ireland 2-1 in Dublin. They are currently second in Group B behind runaway leaders France, but have played a game less than all of their opponents.
