Burnley vs Spurs | Ange’s preview: “This will be a test for us”

Ange Postecoglou expects to meet a fit, aggressive Burnley side in our Premier League clash at Turf Moor on Saturday (3pm).

Promoted in some style in Vincent Kompany’s first season in charge last term – Burnley clinched an immediate return to the top flight with seven games remaining, then secured the Championship title – Kompany has received universal praise for the way he’s turned the Lancashire club around.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY on Friday, Ange said: “It will be a good test for us. I really like the way Vincent went about getting Burnley out of the Championship, a notoriously tough competition, but the football they played and their approach, I thought was outstanding.

We’re going to have to show everything we’ve shown so far at Brentford and Bournemouth to get the job done

“It looks like they will attack the Premier League in the same manner, they’ve been really aggressive in their first couple of games. They are a fit side, they started pre-season early and particularly at home, for them, it will be a test for us.

“Any Premier League away game tests your mental fortitude as well as your football and we’re going to have to show everything we’ve shown so far at Brentford and Bournemouth to get the job done.”

Asked further about Kompany’s work so far at Turf Moor, Ange added: “I think he’s been outstanding. We all know the Championship is a really tough competition to get out of, the number of games, the relentlessness of it, but the manner in which they did it was really impressive.

“He’s obviously got some strong beliefs around the way he wants his team to play and you get tested early on in your managerial career, it doesn’t matter who you are, there are always obstacles where those beliefs get tested, but he has a clear method, clear ideology and it's great to see. I love watching people like that go about their business. I think he’s done an outstanding job and will continue to do so.”
