Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week hosted the third annual Tech Slam UK as a collaboration between the Club’s Foundation and The Hidden Genius Project.
The initiative aims to empower youth from diverse backgrounds to explore career opportunities within the worlds of sports and technology.
Students from local schools were invited to the stadium for a series of workshops facilitated by TEAM, Inc., Oakland Natives Give Back, and Creative Hut which focused on exposing youth to tech skills using sports and technology.
It forms part of the Club and Foundation’s wider work in creating education and employment opportunities for local young people, using the stadium as a catalyst.
Marc Leckie, CEO, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: "We were delighted to host this event at our stadium and we thank The Hidden Genius Project for bringing such a fantastic, groundbreaking initiative to our doorstep. It is a driving ethos of ours to encourage young people within our communities to broaden their horizons and expose them to the vast opportunities that exist around them."
The Hidden Genius Project is a non-profit based in Oakland, California, that trains and mentors Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities.
Dr. Brandon Nicholson, Chief Executive Officer of The Hidden Genius Project, said: "In a world where opportunities in the technology sector abound, Tech Slam UK recognises the potential that lies within young individuals, particularly those from communities of colour. These events serve as a platform to inspire participants to explore exciting sports technology career pathways, both technical and non-technical, that are ripe with potential."
In addition, this event featured a special expo for youth to network with numerous people, technology companies, behind-the-scenes stadium tours and an exciting raffle.
Notable event sponsors include United Airlines, Uber, Comcast NBCUniversal, Marqeta, Smartsheet, Goldman Sachs, and Autodesk.
