Spurs vs Reading (Conti Cup) | Robert’s preview: “We need to develop in every game”

Robert Vilahamn sees tonight’s Continental Tyres League Cup opener against Reading as another opportunity for the players to improve their craft.

Since taking over as Head Coach in the summer, Robert has demanded an attacking style of play and that’s certainly been in evidence in our first two Women’s Super League games of the season.

With attentions now turning to cup action and the first of our matches in the group stage, the boss wants to see us take the game to the Royals in a bid to continue our development on the pitch.

“It’s going to be really good to play the cup game, and the journey continues,” he said.

“We need to develop in every game and make sure we take steps. It was a good step on Sunday (3-1 win against Bristol City) and now the Reading game will be another step to make sure that we play even better football.”

Robert had his first taste of action at Brisbane Road at the weekend and after enjoying the atmosphere generated by our fans, he hopes for more of the same tonight.

“It’s nice here, you get a good atmosphere, the pitch is new and you can play the football we want, so that’s important for me,” said Robert.

“It’s also good to bring the fans back here because we can show them the football we can play and the football they want to come and watch. I think it was a good first game together and hopefully we can have another positive match against Reading.”

Kick-off is at 7.30pm UK time – tickets will be available at the stadium.
