Son on target as South Korea hit six

Heung-Min Son scored and provided an assist as he captained South Korea to a dominant 6-0 win over Vietnam in an international friendly on Tuesday.

Goals from Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Hwang Hee-chan had given the Reds a two-goal cushion at half-time, before our Club captain was influential in the third as his cross forced Vietnam’s Vo Minh Trong to turn it into his own net five minutes after the break.

The Premier League’s Player of the Month for September added a fourth from 12 yards on the hour mark after a lovely give-and-go with Hwang, continuing his fine goalscoring form this season to take his international tally to 38.

The Korean skipper was denied a clear goalscoring opportunity a minute later which saw Vietnam defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh sent off as the last man and then turned provider for Lee Kang-in’s fifth on 70 minutes as Jeong Woo-yeong rounded off the scoring in the closing stages.

Having been rested by Korean national team Head Coach and Spurs legend Jurgen Klinsmann against Tunisia in their last outing, Sonny won his 114th cap for his nation to move him into sixth in their all-time list and played the full 90 in Suwon.
