Micky van de Ven made his senior international debut for the Netherlands in their 2-1 home defeat by France in qualifying for Euro 2024 on Friday night.
The 22-year-old defender, fresh from his first goal in our colours at Luton Town last weekend, came off the bench 10 minutes from time with the score at 2-0 to earn his first cap.
Replacing Nathan Ake in Amsterdam, Micky saw ex-Spur Steven Bergwijn set up Quilindschy Hartman to halve the deficit in the 83rd minute, but Les Bleus held on to claim all three points in Group B and secure their place at next summer’s tournament finals with two games to spare.
The Netherlands are currently third, three points behind second-placed Greece with a game in hand.
Micky was called up to the senior squad for the first time for September’s round of matches, but did not feature on the pitch.
He was previously a regular for the Netherlands’ Under-21 side, captaining the team on several occasions.
