Grace Clinton has been named in the senior England squad for this month’s UEFA Women’s Nations League matches against Belgium.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who joined us on loan from Manchester United over the summer, has made a flying start to the season in our colours and scored her first Women’s Super League goal in stunning fashion during Sunday’s 3-1 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Her form has been recognised after England boss Sarina Wiegman this afternoon named her squad ahead of a home clash with Belgium on Friday 27 October and away match against the same opponents on Tuesday 31 October.
Grace, who has been a regular for England at youth level and was part of the Under-23 squad for last month’s games against Norway and Belgium, makes history as the first player ever to earn a first call-up into the senior Lionesses’ ranks while playing for us.
Our captain Bethany England earned a recall earlier this year and was part of the squad that reached the World Cup final over the summer. She misses out this month as she continues her rehabilitation from a hip injury.
In further good news for our women’s first team, Celin Bizet has earned a recall to the senior Norway squad for their upcoming UEFA Women’s Nations League matches against France.
Full details of all our international call-ups will be confirmed next week ahead of the start of the latest women’s international window.
