Ange Postecoglou said the Premier League Player of the Month award was ‘great recognition’ for Heung-Min Son’s performances in September.
The Spurs and South Korea skipper racked up six goals as we continued our unbeaten start to the campaign with wins against Burnley - where he scored a hat-trick - Sheffield United and Liverpool, plus a draw at Arsenal.
He was named Player of the Month and Ange named Manager of the Month as we completed a 'double double' - Ange and James Maddison took the league's awards in August.
He’s been a catalyst for a lot of the good stuff we’ve done, that’s a responsibility he has, and the award is great recognition for him
As we all know, Sonny is such a great character and leader around the Club, but Ange was quick to point out that performances are key, as well.
He said: “Sonny’s done awfully well. He’s one of the driving forces within the culture of the group and when I made him captain, I knew the kind of person he was and the player he was, but ultimately, it’s about performances as well.
“He realises that. It’s not just about being a great guy and creating a good culture it’s about, when game time comes, you’ve got to perform, because that’s part of being a leader. You can’t shy away from that.
“His performances last month... not just the goals he’s scored but he’s been a catalyst for a lot of the good stuff we’ve done, that’s a responsibility he has, and the award is great recognition for him.”
