The Club can confirm that a visiting supporter found guilty of making a discriminatory gesture towards Heung-Min Son during our home Premier League match against Crystal Palace in May has been handed a three-year football banning order following an appeal against the original sentence.

The Club had assisted the Metropolitan Police in gathering evidence against the supporter, who was arrested and charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.

The supporter pleaded guilty to the offence and received 60 hours of unpaid work and costs - however, the Club raised concerns with the Metropolitan Police and UK Football Policing Unit over the leniency of this sentence.

The Metropolitan Police, supported by the Club, approached the UK Football Policing Unit to seek an appeal against the sentence and, as a direct result, the court issued the supporter with a three-year football banning order.

We thank the Police for their cooperation on the matter. We should like to reiterate that the Club does not tolerate discrimination of any kind and will always seek for the strongest possible action to be taken against those found responsible.
