Our final Barclays Women's Super League home game of the season takes place as part of the Club's first-ever competitive double-header on Saturday.
Following the Premier League fixture against Brentford, the WSL fixture kicks off at 4.15pm at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and presents the opportunity to secure our WSL status for 2023/24.
We go into the clash three points ahead of a Reading side currently at the bottom of the table, with one team relegated into the Championship. Victory would see us pull six points clear with one game to go.
It's a match with so much at stake, and one defender Amy Turner is really looking forward to. “It’s massive,” Amy said, speaking this week in her matchday programme interview. “We’re not underestimating the task at hand. We know it’s a massive game for both teams.
“We know if we bring the quality that we have then we’ll get three points, but it’s never that easy when you play against Reading. They make it difficult, are a physical team and are hard to break down.
“We know we’re going to have to be at our very best to earn the three points. Nothing’s going to be given, but we’re excited for the challenge. The pressure’s on and we’re trying to embrace it as best as we can.”
I've been fortunate enough to play in some really nice stadiums, but Tottenham's is by far my favourite.
Our first ever competitive double-header at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium promises to be a special occasion on Saturday, but Amy is just focusing on the task at hand.
“I’m trying not to think about it too much,” she said. “That’s been the message to all the players, it’s just another game for us. We know the importance of the game itself, but the occasion, we try not to overthink it.
“It’s going to be something we look back on after the game and realise how big of an occasion it was. For the fans it will be brilliant and I know they’re excited for the game. We hope we can put on a good show for everyone that stays and watches us.
“It’s such a nice stadium. Being in the dressing rooms, it feels so unlike any other stadium I’ve played at and I’ve been fortunate enough to play in some really nice stadiums, but it’s by far my favourite.”
