Interim Head Coach Vicky Jepson provided an honest assessment of our 5-1 defeat at home to Arsenal on Sunday.
“I’m extremely disappointed and so are the players,” she said after the game. “We’re all in it together and we don’t ever want to concede that many goals, certainly not against Arsenal, so we apologise to the fans.
“It won’t define us, we’ve got six games left, we know what our focus is and we can’t dwell on this game. We’ve got to move on quickly, especially when it’s a tough pill to swallow like that with the scoreline at the final whistle.
“There was a decision made in the second half, which I’m not going to comment on, from which they were awarded a penalty. That goes in at 3-1 and that deflated us a little bit.
“Then we had to try and deal with a storm that came against us with a lot of momentum where they were getting entries into the final third. We didn’t deal with it well enough, but when we’re back in we’ll regroup, refocus, look at the clips and Everton is the next focus.
“There are six games left and we can’t dwell on today.”
