Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin has returned to training, but the striker will be unavailable to face us on Monday night, Sean Dyche has confirmed.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, Dyche said that England international Calvert-Lewin "back out on the grass" but has yet to rejoin the rest of the squad in full training and thus will not feature in the clash at Goodison Park (kick-off 8pm UK).
"He hasn't trained with the group but is back on the grass again," the Toffees boss stated. "He has been making progress, which is good. He had a slight niggle in a different area but he is making very good progress so we are happy with that."
While Calvert-Lewin will not be available for the Blues on Monday night, a man that could be is defender Nathan Patterson.
The full-back, who made the move to Everton from Rangers in January, 2022, has been out of action for the Toffees since the start of 2023, but did play for Scotland in both of their Euro 2024 qualifiers during the international break.
"He's still a young player, developing," said Dyche. "There is still more to come from him but he got injured pretty quickly. He's now over that, which is good.
"He has played a bit earlier in the season here, so there is a lot of development in him. But he is going about it the right way now he is fit. It was a fantastic win for Scotland the other night [against Spain], and he got a little piece of it as well which is great for him."
