Southampton v Spurs – how to watch, team news, kit colours, key information

Sat 18 March 2023, 00:21|Tottenham Hotspur

We’re back on the road on Saturday with a trip to the Premier League’s basement side, Southampton (kick-off 3pm UK time).

In our last game before the international break, we have an opportunity to move up to third in the table with victory, given Manchester United’s involvement in the FA Cup this weekend.

The Saints, meanwhile, will be keen on maximum points to aid their survival fight under their third manager of the season, Ruben Selles.

Here’s everything you need to know about Saturday’s game...

How can I watch the game?

Saturday’s match is not due to be televised live in the UK, but you can follow all the action via our Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app.

There, you’ll find minute-by-minute text and audio commentary, goal alerts, stats and much more, meaning you won’t miss any of the action. Kick-off is at 3pm.

BBC Radio 5 Live will also carry live commentary.

Video highlights will be available from two hours after the game on SPURSPLAY, with the full match replay available on the same platform from midnight on Sunday.

Worldwide broadcast listings are available here.

What is the team news?

Hugo Lloris (knee), Yves Bissouma (ankle), Rodrigo Bentancur (knee) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) all remain sidelined for the trip to St Mary’s.

When he spoke to SPURSPLAY and the national media on Thursday, Antonio Conte did not confirm whether or not Emerson Royal would be available after he missed last weekend’s victory over Nottingham Forest with a knock sustained against AC Milan.

Our former right-back Kyle Walker-Peters is expected to be available for Southampton despite being forced off against Brentford in midweek but Tino Livramento and Juan Larios are long-term absentees for the hosts.

What colours will the teams be playing in?

Southampton’s shirts are primarily white with a thick red stripe down the centre, complete with black shorts and red-and-white socks.

We’ll be wearing our third kit at St Mary’s, which is all light blue with darker blue patterns on the shirts.

The Saints’ goalkeeper strip is largely black with coloured patterns on the shirt.

Our keeper will play in yellow.

Who is the referee?

Simon Hooper will referee Saturday’s match, assisted by Adrian Holmes and Mark Scholes.

The fourth official will be John Busby.

VAR will be handled by Tony Harrington along with assistant Simon Long.

What will the weather conditions be like?

After expected rainfall in the morning on the south coast, it’s forecast to be bright with light winds during the game, with temperatures at around 13 degrees.
