Antonio Conte is looking for a repeat of our performances in last season’s run-in to maintain fourth place in the Premier League this time around.
After bowing out of the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in the last week, we’ve now 12 matches remaining in the league to achieve that target, starting with Forest at home on Saturday (3pm).
Interestingly, we have the same number of points - 45 - as we did at this stage - 26 games - last season. We then reeled off eight wins in our last 12, including four of our last five, to overtake Arsenal in the final week and claim fourth.
The big difference is that last season we were seventh after 26 matches, and this time around we’re fourth.
We don’t want to give up, we want to fight in every game and give everything
Speaking to SPURSPLAY after training on Friday, Antonio told us: “We have 12 games to go, and it will be important to finish in the best possible way. You know we have to fight against top teams who also want to fight for the top four, for a place in Europe, but at the same time we want to stay there, fight and we’ll see what happens.
“Last season was different. This season our position is more stable than last season… then, in the last 14 games we won 10, and made a great achievement. We have to find the right enthusiasm to repeat what we did in the past. It won’t be easy because, in this race, we find important teams. At the same time, we don’t want to give up, we want to fight in every game and give everything.
“Now, we have to play an important game against Forest, put all our energy onto the pitch and win three important points. It won’t be easy, but we want to have a good performance.”
