Oliver Skipp lined-up for England Under-21s on Saturday afternoon as they fell 2-0 to Japan in a behind-closed-doors friendly at St George's Park.

As part of their ongoing preparations for this summer's European Championships, the Young Lions picked up valuable minutes as a group in Japan's visit to Burton.

Oliver was picked to start the game and played 60 minutes, producing a superb block to deny the Japanese taking the lead on the stroke of half-time, before being substituted for Liverpool's Curtis Jones.

After our number four exited the pitch, Japan then struck twice in the final 25 minutes to edge the meeting, Rihito Yamamota opening the scoring on 65 minutes with Yuta Matsumura sealing the victory with a close-range strike 10 minutes later.

With this summer's Under-21 Euros kick-off in Romania on 21 June, England are expected to confirm their final squad for the tournament on Wednesday (14 June).
