Spurs vs West Ham – how to watch, team news, kit colours, key information

Mon 17 July 2023, 23:00|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s time for our first outing of pre-season, and what a match it is as we take on London rivals West Ham United as part of our Asia-Pacific tour in Perth, Australia!

New Head Coach Ange Postecoglou takes charge for the first time since his appointment earlier this summer in a match that kicks-off at 6pm local time on Tuesday and 11am in the UK.

The impressive Optus Stadium is the venue – opponents West Ham also played there on Saturday, defeating Perth Glory 6-2.

Interestingly, Ange and Hammers boss David Moyes went head-to-head in Australia in 2013 when Moyes’ Manchester United faced an A-League All-Stars side managed by Ange in Melbourne.

Here’s all the key information you need to know...

How can I watch the game?

As with all of our men’s first team pre-season friendlies this summer, you’ll be able to watch live coverage of Tuesday’s clash with West Ham on SPURSPLAY*, our exclusive live and on-demand video service. Kick-off is at 11am UK time.

Find out more about SPURSPLAY and sign up here.

You can also follow all the action via our Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app, where you’ll find live text updates, images and much more.

Video highlights will be available on SPURSPLAY after the game.

*Broadcast unavailable in host territory.

What is the team news?

New signings Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Manor Solomon – plus Destiny Udogie, who signed for us last summer and spent the 2022/23 campaign back on loan at Udinese – could all make their first appearances in a Spurs shirt on Tuesday.

In all, we have 31 players in Australia with Ange set to give match minutes to a number of them against the Hammers.

Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Fraser Forster (back), Bryan Gil (back), Troy Parrott (groin) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) all miss out through injury while Hugo Lloris has remained in London.

A reminder that during our tour fixtures, Maddison, Solomon and Udogie will wear temporary squad numbers of 71, 72 and 73 respectively.

Lucas Paqueta, Said Benrahma and Ben Johnson are absent for West Ham, with some of their players having only just returned to training following their time off in the wake of June’s international fixtures.

What colours will the teams be playing in?

Our brand new 2023/24 home kit will get a first run-out on Tuesday.

For the first time since 2012/13 – aside from our European games, of course – we’re in a full Lilywhite strip, with white shorts complementing the usual shirts and socks.

West Ham will also play in their usual home colours of claret and blue.

What will the weather conditions be like?

Temperatures should reach 19 degrees in Perth on Tuesday, although there’s a chance we might experience thundery showers during the game.
