Manor Solomon expressed his delight at pulling on a Spurs shirt for the first time and left Perth’s Optus Stadium encouraged by the performance against West Ham on Tuesday.
The Israel international certainly made an impression in a lively first half display, even though we trailed 2-0 at the break. Manor was denied twice by Lukasz Fabianski, one of a number of saves as we racked up 30 efforts at goal over the 90 minutes in front of 46,266 fans
In the end, it wasn’t enough though. Ange Postecoglou made 11 changes at half-time and we stormed back to level at 2-2 through Gio Lo Celso and Destiny Udogie, his first goal for the club, only for West Ham to grab the spoils on the break through Gianluca Scamacca with 12 minutes left.
“First of all, I’m really happy to make my debut, the first time to play in front of our fans, amazing for me,” Manor told SPURSPLAY afterwards. “It’s a shame we didn’t win. I think we dominated the game, created a lot of chances, had a lot of the ball, but in the end we lost. We will improve. We’ll get better and better. We will work on what we need to do and it’s going to be a bright future for the club.”
‘We want to dominate’
Manor: “We dominated the game. You saw a team that wants to have the ball, wants to dominate the game, puts pressure on every time we lose the ball and creates a lot of chances. Now we need to take advantage of the chances and be more organised at the back, as a team. We will work on it and be a better team.”
‘We’re already looking forward’
Manor: "We started to implement what the gaffer wants, tried to play an attractive game, to have a lot of patterns. You can see all the players involved in the offensive game. Our goal is to create as many chances as possible, but also to exploit them, which we didn’t do today, but we will improve and do it better. It’s a shame I didn’t score, but it’s okay, he made a great save. I’ll work on it. He was man of the match, so congratulations to him. Yes, we lost, but we’re already looking forward. We are happy with that performance, I would say, but of course not the result."
