After 21 years with us, we said a fond farewell to Academy graduate Harry Winks on Thursday as he departed our doors for pastures new at Leicester City.

Having first joined us as a five year-old, Harry progressed through our ranks, became a scholar in 2012 before going on to realise the dream of any boyhood Spurs fan, making his first team debut for the Club in November, 2014, as we faced Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Europa League.

Further appearances in the competition followed in the following campaign before his breakout season came in 2016/17. Making his Premier League debut in a home clash with Liverpool in August, 2016, he made his Champions League bow the following month as we took on CSKA Moscow in Russia on Matchday Two of our Group E campaign before, in November, 2016, he scored his first goal for the Club as he struck in a 3-2 win over West Ham United at White Hart Lane – that was also his first league start.

His rise in Lilywhite continued in 2017/18. After an ankle injury ended his previous campaign prematurely, he wasted little time getting up to speed in the new term, impressing in our Champions League group stage campaign especially as we topped a Group H which included reigning European champions Real Madrid. And it was in our encounters with Real that ‘Winksy’ came to the fore, producing standout performances at both the Bernabeu and Wembley. In October, 2017, his displays in our colours were rewarded with an international call-up and he went onto make his England debut against Lithuania that same month.

Once more, an ankle injury halted his momentum as he was sidelined for almost seven months but he returned shortly after the start of the 2018/19 season, and went onto have his busiest campaign. Making 41 appearances that term, he played an integral role in our journey to the Champions League final, appearing in all bar three of our 13 outings, while he started the showpiece in Madrid in June, 2019.

In total, Harry made 203 appearances for us in all competitions, scoring five goals.
