Asia-Pacific Tour | Thai food, Spurs shirts into school bags and Open Training in Bangkok

The players made the most of our first full day in Bangkok on Saturday with two training sessions, including Open Training, an upcycling workshop with a local charity and a taste of Thai cuisine with a Thai rock star!

After the morning training session at the STB Football Academy, it was time for Heung-Min Son, Joe Rodon, Pape Sarr and Ivan Perisic to meet local children from Second Chance Bangkok, a charity run by residents of Klong Toey.

Second Chance's core focus is on environmental sustainability and social responsibility and as part of their work, they have a charity shop, relying on donations of quality second-hand goods, which are then sold to residents of the Klong Toey community at affordable prices. The shop also creates employment for many residents, including an upcycling project where women with skills in sewing transform clothing into bags and giftware.

Local children from the charity were invited to the team hotel where our players joined them in an upcycling workshop, turning last year’s Spurs shirts into new school bags.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski, Pedro Porro, Emerson Royal and Harvey White joined Thai rock star and long-time Spurs fan, Toon, to taste a number of different Thai food dishes and learn some local language.

Toon talked the players through each dish - Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Pad Kra Pao, Mango sticky rice, Som Tum and Durian.

The second training session of the day took us to the Rajamangala National Stadium - host stadium for our pre-season match against Leicester City on Sunday (11am UK, 5pm local) - and fans flocked for the chance to watch Ange Postecoglou and his coaching team put the players through their paces in the pouring rain.

After the session, fans lucky enough to take a place in our 'Golden Circle' were treated to an autograph and selfie session from the whole squad.
