Ledley King wowed members of OzSpurs at our Supporters' Club evening in Perth on Sunday.
Our former skipper and popular Club Ambassador was the special guest at the event attended by over 200 fans at the Empire Bar in the city. Members from the 'chapters' of OzSpurs, our Official Supporters' Club in Australia, have flocked to Perth for our pre-season clash against West Ham at Optus Stadium on Tuesday evening (6pm local time) and many were represented here.
Ledley on stage with OzSpurs President, Paul Fellowes
Ledley was joined on stage by Paul Fellowes, President of OzSpurs and our Senior Club Journalist, Paul Miles. OzSpurs put together a special montage charting Ledley's career from starting out as a youngster at Senrab, a prolific junior club in east London, through to joining our Academy at 16 and his journey to become Spurs captain, an England international and one of the best defenders of the modern era, with a Q&A about his 14 years as a professional following that journey.
As we all know, Ledley's later career was affected by a serious knee injury, and he spoke about he managed the issue for fully five years - during which time he lifted the League Cup (2008) and led us into the Champions League (2010) - before being forced to retire in 2012. "I always wanted to be the best I could be," Ledley told OzSpurs members, and that best was for Spurs, his only Club.
After the Q&A, Ledley met fans, signed memorabilia and posed for selfies until 10.30pm local time.
