The Best FIFA Football Awards - Richarlison up for Puskas Award

It's the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony tonight - and Richarlison's stunning overhead kick against Serbia at the 2022 World Cup is amongst the top three contenders.
Back on 24 November, the forward lit up the tournament in Qatar when he controlled Vinicius Junior’s driven pass in from the left, swivelled and fired an incredible acrobatic volley into the net, sealing a 2-0 win for his side.
It was his second goal of the game and was immediately recognised as something special by players, pundits and fans alike.
Having been shortlisted as part of an initial 11 goals in January, Richarlison’s memorable strike is one of the three finalists for prestigious Puskás Award - an annual prize given to a player from the men’s or women’s game who has been judged to have scored the best goal of the year. The winner is selected by an international jury comprising a panel of FIFA Legends and fans from all over the world on FIFA.com.
The two other strikes which have made the top three are Dimitri Payet's strike for Olympique Marseille vs PAOK Thessalonik and Marcin Oleksy's for Warta Poznan v Stal Rzeszow.
If Richy wins, it will be the third time in four years that one of our players has scooped the accolade. Erik Lamela (by then of Sevilla) won in 2021 for his Rabona against Arsenal, while Heung-Min Son clinched the 2020 honour for his amazing solo goal against Burnley.
And the winner will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Paris tonight!
