Welcome back to our special feature for 2022/23 - 1 from 30 - as we continue to mark 30 years of the Premier League.
English football's new dawn kicked-off on the weekend of 15/16 August, 1992 as the FA Premier League replaced Barclays League Division One, ending a structure of Division One-Four that had been in place since 1958. Thirty years on, the Premier League is amongst the most watched and most valuable sporting leagues in the world.
In this series, we're featuring a match from those 30 years that corresponds with our next fixture - next up, it's north London derby time again, and we look back at a fine win against Arsenal at the Lane in February, 2015 - the beginning of Harry Kane's march to the top of the NLD goalscoring list...
Spurs 2-1 Arsenal - 7 February, 2015
This was Harry Kane's first start in a north London derby - and it was a sign of things to come.
The young striker stole the show as we ran out 2-1 winners in another thrilling N17 v N5 clash in the Premier League at the Lane on 7 February, 2014.
Trailing to Mezut Ozil's 11th-minute opener, Harry turned home from close range from Erik Lamela's corner to level 10 minutes into the second half and then the coupe de grace, a brilliant header from Nabil Bentaleb's cross to win it five minutes from time, two Academy players combining to beat our rivals from down Seven Sisters Road.
That was how Harry introduced himself to the biggest fixture in north London nine years ago, and he hasn't looked back. He levelled Bobby Smith and Emmanuel Adebayor's 10 goals with a penalty at the Emirates in a 2-2 draw in September, 2019 before a clinical finish in our 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December, 2020 took him to the top of the pile. He has now taken his tally to 14 and, on top of that record, he's also the record goalscorer in Premier League London derbies with 47.
Spurs: Lloris, Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Mason (Paulinho), Bentaleb, Lamela (Stambouli), Dembele (Chadli), Eriksen, Kane.
