Heung-Min Son gave local youngsters a half term to remember today (Friday 17 February) when he joined in a football session at our Family Fun Day hosted by Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
Throughout February half-term, the Club’s Foundation has been delivering free activities for young people and families in our local community.
Today, Sonny visited a packed out N17 Arena – our community hub located on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium campus – where people from Tottenham and beyond were enjoying a range of activities including football sessions, face painting and live music.
At the event, over 20 young players were joined by the South Korean international captain and put through their paces with a series of football sessions. Sonny then took the time to share some football tips, sign autographs and take photos.
Sonny said: “Today’s Family Fun Day is a brilliant event for the community. There are many different activities for people of all ages to enjoy and take part in, and it’s nice to see such a strong turn-out! Even during the holidays, it’s so important to stay fit and active so it’s great to see the Club putting on these free sessions to help keep local people engaged. The kids today were great fun and there are clearly some promising young footballers in the group!”
His visit forms part of the wider work delivered by the Club and its Foundation to create life-changing opportunities and experiences for young people across its community.
Throughout this week, young people have been able to come along and take part in a series of Premier League Kicks sessions, an ongoing programme that has helped thousands of young people through weekly football and educational workshops.
Yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation hosted a taster event at Duke’s Aldridge Academy showcasing the different range of activities we offer in the community including indoor fitness classes, employment screening sessions and arts and crafts for young families.
Earlier this week, our former women’s first team captain Jenna Schillaci appeared as a special guest at a women’s walking football tournament and Club Ambassadors Gary Mabbutt and Ossie Ardiles took part in an over-50s men’s walking football tournament. Both events were hosted by the Club’s Foundation with the aim to promote health and well-being through the power of football.
