Team news | Spurs vs Man United (WSL) | Bethany England available
Sat 09 December 2023, 17:04|Tottenham Hotspur
Captain Bethany England is back available for selection as we prepare to host Manchester United in the Women’s Super League at the Gaughan Group Stadium (Brisbane Road) on Sunday.
The England international striker underwent a surgical procedure on her hip prior to the start of the season, but marked her return to action with four goals in a training ground friendly against the Gibraltar national team on 1 December and is now back in the frame ahead of our clash with the Red Devils (6.45pm UK, live on Sky Sports).
“I’m very much looking forward to bringing her to the matchday squad this weekend and using her as a player and a leader. We’re so happy to have her back,” said Head Coach Robert Vilahamn.
We’re set to be without a number of midfielders on Sunday, though, with Drew Spence (hamstring), Eveliina Summanen (hamstring), Olga Ahtinen (knee) and striker Ellie Brazil (knee) all sidelined through injury.
Grace Clinton is ineligible to play against her parent club under the terms of her loan from United.
“We still have Drew, Eveliina and Olga out for a few more weeks,” said Robert. “They’re getting more and more fit to get back onto the pitch but we will not see them until after Christmas. Ellie is back in training but not full training so she will not be a part of the squad either. Grace Clinton will not be a part of this game because she’s on loan (from United) and it’s not a part of the agreement.”
