Spurs vs West Ham | Ange's preview: “They’re a dangerous team - we’ll have to be at our best”

Ange Postecoglou is ready for a ‘great challenge’ against West Ham and hoping it’s a case of home, sweet home as we’re back in N17 for huge back-to-back matches in the Premier League in the next four days.

Unbeaten in five in all competitions as they head to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, West Ham are flying again in Europe but were held at home by Palace last time out.

We halted a run of three straight losses with a thrilling 3-3 draw at Manchester City on Sunday, although you could argue that we could have beaten both Wolves and Villa before another fine display at the Etihad.

It was put to Ange that preparing to face City and West Ham in terms of styles are probably chalk and cheese, and he told us: “The challenges are always the same, it’s about can you maintain your own levels of performance irrespective of the opponent?

“They’ve all got strengths they can bring to the table if you’re not at your best and we’ll have to be that.

“West Ham have some real threats going forward and are a really dangerous team, particularly when they get the ball into the box. They are a big, strong side, always tough to break down. David Moyes has had an outstanding career in the Premier League. All his teams are very competitive in terms of bringing their commitment and levels to every game.

“It’s a great challenge for us but we’re back at home, we’ve two home games this week, really important games and hopefully, with the energy of the crowd, we can put on a good performance.”

Having had time to prepare for games with us not competing in Europe, we now face a three-game week and seven in December, all with a squad stretched through injury – Eric Dier, James Maddison, Ivan Perisic Ashley Phillips, Pape Matar Sarr, Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, Micky van de Ven and Alfie Whiteman remain out, although Cuti Romero returns after suspension to face West Ham.

“We’ve just got to get through every game,” added Ange. “We’ve had to deal with a fair bit so far, so now we’ve got to be ready if we need to adjust things as we go along. Right now, our focus is on West Ham and bringing a level of performance that gets us a result, then we’ll dust ourselves off and look at Sunday.”
