We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement to sign experienced Chinese international Shuang Wang, subject to working visa and international clearance.
The 28-year old will join us on 1 January 2024, following the expiry of her contract with Racing Louisville.
Her deal with us runs until 2026 and she will wear the number 77 for our women's first team.
Born in Wuhan, Shuang started out representing Wuhan Jianghan University and has returned there on several occasions throughout her career while clocking up several major honours.
In 2013, she signed for South Korean side Daejeon Sportstoto and helped them reach the Korean Women's FA Cup Final in her first season there, being named Most Valuable Player in the process, before winning back-to-back Chinese Women's Super League titles with Dalian Quanjian in 2016 and 2017.
Following one season in France with Paris Saint-Germain in 2018/19, Shuang won two further Chinese Women's Super League titles back at Wuhan Jianghan University in 2020 and 2021 before heading to the United States to join Racing Louisville in the National Women's Soccer League in August, 2022.
A senior international for China since 2013, Shuang has established herself as an integral figure for her country. She has progressed to win well over 100 caps and captain the team, has played at three World Cups - including scoring against England at this year's tournament - and won the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Asian Cup with new Club team-mate Linyan Zhang in 2022, scoring five goals in the tournament.
Having also represented her country at the Olympics and Asian Games, she was named AFC Women's Footballer of the Year in 2018 and is a four-time Chinese Women's Footballer of the Year.
