Practice is making perfect for Dejan Kulusevski.
Ange Postecoglou said after another stand out performance and goal in our 2-0 win at Forest on Friday that the coaching team have been working with Deki at Hotspur Way to make him more of a goal threat.
The Sweden international racked up goal number five in 17 matches in the Premier League so far this term by rifling home the second goal after 65 minutes at the City Ground. Deki pounced on a loose clearance from Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner, beat Moussa Niakhate and powered his shot through Turner.
Deki also picked up the assist for our first goal, a teasing cross headed home by Richarlison in added time in the first half. That makes it 12 goals and 17 assists in 65 Premier League appearances for the 23-year-old since joining us from Juventus almost two years ago.
“Deki’s been brilliant,” said Ange. “He’s played multiple positions for us, started in the middle (at Forest) and I thought he looked good, causing problems but obviously with Brennan going off, we had to put him back out wide, again, he showed his quality.
“He’s improving all the time. We’ve been at him about being more of a goal threat, we feel that's the one aspect of his game that he still needs to bridge a gap. He’s taken that on board and he’s getting into much more dangerous positions and getting the rewards.”
