Spurs vs United | Team news | Romero ready to play

Fri 18 August 2023, 14:35|Tottenham Hotspur

Cristian Romero is fit and ready to face Manchester United on Saturday (5.30pm).

The defender, appointed vice-captain alongside James Maddison to skipper Heung-Min Son last weekend, was forced out of the action shortly after opening the scoring in our Premier League curtain-raiser at Brentford last weekend having earlier suffered a clash of heads with Bryan Mbuemo.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY after training on Friday, Ange Postecoglou told us: “Cuti is fine. He’s gone through all the protocols - the medical team have been monitoring him carefully. He felt good all week, but we wanted to abide by protocols and make sure we got the all clear from the medical team. He’s trained and ready to go.”

Speaking later in his press conference, Ange said: “In terms of Cristian, he’s good to go. He’s been in the hands of the medical team, going through all the protocols. It’s a clearly-defined process we need to go through and he’s ticked all the boxes. He’s felt fine all week, trained and is ready to go.

“Aside from that, no change from last week.”

That means Rodrigo Bentancur, Fraser Forster, Bryan Gil, Ryan Sessegnon and Alfie Whiteman remain sidelined.
