Clive Allen spoke about the team’s ‘positive steps’ as he reflected on our impressive win against Manchester United on the Review Show on SPURSPLAY.
Legendary former striker, nine years on our coaching staff and now pundit and co-commentator on SPURSPLAY, Clive has just about seen it all in his association with the Club - and he likes what he’s seen from Ange Postecogou’s team so far.
Dominant in a 2-2 draw in our Premier League opener against Brentford, we took control of Saturday’s encounter in the second half as goals from Pape Sarr (49 minutes) and an own goal from Lisandro Martinez (81) secured the points.
“There were so many good performances,” said Clive. “It emphasises the enjoyment in which the players are playing the game, everyone in the stadium could feel that, they bought into that and then the quality of the performances… you have to play well, you have to be at the top of your game to beat a team like Manchester United and we saw a lot of that in the performances today.
“It all bodes well. I always say, the team is a reflection of the manager, that (display) is a reflection of Ange Postecoglou and what he believes and how he wants his team to play. It will take time, he’s said as much, there will be bumps along the way, but the initial steps are very positive.”
