Eddie Howe has given updates on Newcastle dangermen Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximim ahead of Sunday's huge clash in the Premier League at St James' Park.
Almiron has particularly impressed this season as United compete for a place in the UEFA Champions League - 11 goals in his 26 league appearances so far - and boss Howe said the Paraguay forward is 'back in contention' after a return from injury off the bench in a 3-0 defeat at Villa last week, only the Magpies' fourth loss in the Premier League this term.
Howe said: "He's an option - I'd say he's in contention. He's had minimal training - he's trained this week and trained well, as Miggy usually does. I was pleased to see him back on the pitch. But prior to that he had quite a long absence, so we'll wait and see. I'll try and make the right call for him and the team."
Meanwhile, on tricky winger Saint-Maximim, Howe added: "We're not 100 per cent sure yet on Maxi. We'll wait and see. There's not been a setback, but it's taken a maybe little bit longer than we initially (hoped). But no major setback."
