Cristian Stellini expects Clement Lenglet to be part of the squad and available to face Newcastle United in the Premier League at St James’ Park on Sunday (2pm).
The France defender was forced off through injury 35 minutes into our last match against AFC Bournemouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend.
Acting Head Coach Cristian explained that the issue was ‘inflammation under his foot’ but he was back in training and confident he would be available to face the Toon.
Speaking to SPURSPLAY on Friday, Cristian said: “Clement is good. He has to manage the inflammation, but he is in training. Maybe sometimes he has to manage the volume of the training, but we can manage that and be confident that Clement is playing.”
Asked about Clement earlier in his pre-match press conference, Cristian replied: “We are trying to have Lenglet 100 per cent. He trained with us, he’s not 100 per cent, but we are confident tomorrow he can train for a full session. He has inflammation under his foot. It’s painful, it’s not a problem that can become bigger, but we have to manage.”
Cristian also gave an update on Ben Davies - read here…
Lucas Moura serves the third match of his three-match suspension, while long-term absentees Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Yves Bissouma (ankle), Emerson Royal (knee) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) remain out.
