Spurs Women nominated for Grassroots Initiative of the Year

Tue 04 April 2023, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

We are delighted to announce that Spurs Women’s Female Talent Pathway has been nominated for the Grassroots Initiative of the Year award at the Women’s Football Awards.

The Club launched its Female Talent Pathway at the start of the 2020/21 season, enabling us to work with local grassroots clubs to identify talented female players and provide them with a progressive series of football programmes to develop their game and nurture their skills using renowned coaching methods to help them play at the highest level possible.

We’re really proud that 75% of all current academy players have been selected from grassroots clubs.

Since the launch of our Female Talent Pathway, the Club has had 10 first team debuts in all competitive competitions from players who have graduated from the Club’s academy, of which 70% have come from Grassroots football.

This season, the Club has hosted a year-long internship for a female coach, who has been fully integrated into the women’s academy staff structure – a first of its kind in the game.

We are now taking applications for our women's academy ahead of the 2023/24 season. To apply for trials, click here.

The Women’s Football Awards are Britain’s biggest celebration of women’s football, recognising grassroots initiatives doing phenomenal work to grow the game.

The awards ceremony, hosted by former England internationals Eni Aluko and Jamie Carragher, will take place on Thursday, 25 May in London’s Nobu Hotel, Portman Square.
