Opposition team news - Fernandes not ruled out of United clash

Wed 26 April 2023, 14:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes could yet feature for his side when the Red Devils make the trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night (kick-off 8pm UK).

The influential midfielder, who has been involved in 23 goals for United this season, picked up a knock in the Reds' FA Cup semi-final victory over Brighton on Sunday, playing 101 minutes before being substituted at Wembley.

He was then pictured this week recovering at home wearing a protective boot alongside a pair of crutches.

However, despite the apparent ankle issue, Ten Hag has not ruled out the Portugal international for their Premier League trip to N17 on Thursday. He has confirmed though that central defenders Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane remain unavailable.

“There are some unavailable. [Lisandro] Martinez, [Raphael] Varane. We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is,” Ten Hag said in his pre-match press conference.

“We don't know yet, he is a question mark. I think for the rest, we are quite okay.”
