Liverpool 4-3 Spurs
Premier League

Richarlison scored his first Premier League goal in our colours as we fought back from 3-0 down to equalise in stoppage time against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, only for the home side to score a dramatic late winner.
The home side raced into a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes through Curtis Jones, Luis Diaz and a Mo Salah penalty and it looked like being another tough afternoon for us following last week’s heavy defeat at Newcastle United. But we fought back with a Harry Kane goal before half-time, Heung-Min Son made it 3-2 on 77 minutes and then Richarlison levelled it up three minutes into stoppage time. Just when we thought we’d salvaged a point, though, Diogo Jota got clear to fire home a late, late winner.
Liverpool flew out of the blocks and were 2-0 ahead inside five minutes, Jones side-footing home when unmarked from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross before Diaz volleyed in a Cody Gakpo centre at the near post. Ten minutes later and we conceded again, Cristian Romero bringing down Gakpo just inside the area, referee Paul Tierney immediately pointed to the spot and Salah drilled the penalty straight down the middle past Fraser Forster.
We were shell-shocked again and spent much of the first half trying to recover, but then had a spell just before the interval when we could actually have drawn level. First, Kane picked out Son whose effort was cleared off the line but a minute later, Ivan Perisic beat Virgil van Dijk all ends up and clipped over the perfect cross for Kane to volley right-footed through Alisson’s legs to make it 3-1. And we almost scored again before the break, Dejan Kulusevski robbing Andy Robertson and was through on goal but this time Alisson made a vital save with his legs.
It was a more even affair after the break and incredibly, we hit the post twice in a minute as we looked to continue the fightback, Son curling an effort against the woodwork before Romero struck the opposite post on the stretch from a Kane cross.
Alisson then tipped Pedro Porro’s drive over the bar and, after a slight lull in the game, we reduced the deficit to one with 13 minutes left, Romero delivering an excellent pass over the top for Son, who took a great first touch and advanced on goal before sliding the ball past Alisson. And we deservedly drew level in the 93rd minute, former Everton man Richarlison back on Merseyside and coming off the bench to head home Son’s free-kick - a goal we all thought was going to give us a point.
Instead, even deeper into stoppage time, substitute Lucas Moura’s backpass was pounced on by Jota and he fired home a dramatic winner. Liverpool had four shots on target all game and scored with all four of them.
In team news, Ryan Mason made two changes to the team that started against Manchester United on Thursday evening. Ben Davies was back from six weeks out in place of Clement Lenglet, who has been struggling with a foot issue, while Dejan Kulusevski came in for Richarlison.
