Becky Spencer kept a clean sheet as Jamaica defeated Sheffield United in a unique friendly on Monday night.

As teams begin their World Cup preparations ahead of this summer’s showpiece tournament in Australia and New Zealand, Becky’s Jamaica took on Women’s Super League 2 side United at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium. Becky played the full 90 minutes in the East Midlands while Drew Spence also started for the Reggae Girlz, playing 68 minutes before being substituted.

In eastern Europe, Eveliina Summanen played the full 90 minutes for Finland as they defeated Slovakia 2-0. Tinja-Riika Korpela was an unused substitute for their second friendly this week against the Slovenskí sokoli in Senec, Slovakia.

Elsewhere on the continent, Asmita Ale started for England Under-23s, playing the full game, as the Young Lionesses defeated Belgium 5-4 in a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw in normal time.

On Tuesday, another host of international friendlies saw more action for our players, including another five-star evening for So-hyun Cho’s South Korea.

Having bagged a brace in Friday night’s 5-2 win over Zambia, Cho once against started for her nation as they took on Zambia once more and, once again, they hit five against their south African opponents, running out 5-0 winners. Our number eight played the full 90 minutes in Yongin, South Korea, before being substituted in added time.

A constant in the Wales team, Angharad James played a key part in her nation’s 1-1 draw with Portugal in Guimaraes, swinging in the corner which led to Rachel Rowe’s equaliser. Haz played the full 90 minutes in northern Portugal, as did Esther Morgan, who is currently on loan to Sunderland.

In Odense, Mana Iwabuchi started for Japan, playing 58 minutes, as her nation suffered a 1-0 loss to Denmark at the Odense stadium.

Rosella Ayane played the entire match for Morocco as they fell 1-0 to Romania in Bucharest while fellow forward Nikola Karczewska was an unused substitute in Poland’s 4-1 defeat against the Netherlands in Rotterdam.
