Dejan Kulusevski surprised students from the Haringey Hawks Basketball Club today when he joined in an Easter holiday basketball session.

The Haringey Hawks provide quality coaching for local students ensuring budding basketball stars of the future receive high-level training whilst developing teamwork and leadership skills to help their studies.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Haringey Sixth Form College which is located on White Hart Lane across the road from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Founded in 2010, the Hawks has an impressive success rate with achievements including back-to-back local and national Championships and entering the European Youth Basketball League in 2020.

Although champions on the court, their main goal is to ensure each player uses the tools they have learnt through basketball and applies it to their life after college, so they can continue to achieve success in whatever they decide to do.

At the session, our influential attacker joined 15 students for a basketball practice session which included 1v1 training, conditioning, and shooting drills. Dejan then took the time to sign autographs, take photos and give advice to the students on what it takes to be a professional athlete.

Speaking at the session, Dejan said: “Basketball is a huge passion of mine and something I really enjoy so being able to come here today and meet such talented students was a great experience. You can clearly see how dedicated and hardworking the players are - there were some very talented players here today! I’ll definitely now be following Haringey Hawks and watching the students succeed both on and off the court.”

Antony Distras, basketball coach at Haringey Sixth Form College, said: “Having Dejan come to today’s session was a fantastic opportunity for our students. He was absolutely brilliant and took the time to speak to each player individually, finding out about them and their basketball journey. He is a great role model for our students, reminding them that through hard work and dedication, you can go onto achieve great things.”
