Cristian previews Newcastle: “We have to do it this week, we have to get it right”

Belief is key for Cristian Stellini as we enter a decisive week in our Premier League campaign.
It kicks-off with a huge clash at St James’ Park on Sunday (2pm) as we take on a Newcastle side currently three points ahead of us in fourth, with a game in hand. We then host third-placed Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday evening (8.15pm) before a trip to Anfield on Sunday week (30 April, 4.30pm).
In the top four from October to February, with just one defeat in 22 matches, Newcastle then stumbled and went five without a win, but recovered with five wins on the spin to climb back up to to third before a 3-0 loss at in-form Villa last weekend. They’ve lost just once at St James’ all season, conceding just nine goals at home in 14 matches.
We have players who have lived this type of experience before, so we believe
That’s the task ahead on Sunday, but one Acting Head Coach Cristian is relishing. “I enjoy every challenge,” he told SPURSPLAY. “We want to play this type of game in this type of atmosphere. We have players who have lived this type of experience before, so we believe.
“It’s in our hands. Of course, we have to try to beat our opponents, because we are behind them, but we believe... we believe that we cans reach this type of target. We have to believe and play for 90 minutes, because in the last game (last week’s 3-2 loss at home to Bournemouth), we played two different games. The best game we play has to be enough to win.”
Talking about the challenge of the week ahead, Cristian added: “It’s very important, this week. We play three tough matches, three important matches and after this week, we only have four matches (remaining), so we don’t have many chances to change the situation. We have to do it this week. We have to get it right.”
