Ben & Rob talk Spurs - the season so far...

We're half-way through the international break and with the north London derby at the Emirates coming up next Saturday (1 October, 12.30pm), what better time for N17 Live presenter Ben Haines and Club Commentator Rob Daly to give their rundown on the season so far?

Take it away, chaps!

So far, so good...

Rob: "You can't really argue with 17 points out of a possible 21 in the Premier League, the same as City. Only City have scored more goals - 23 to 18 - unbeaten in the Premier League, goals in all different ways, including headers and set-pieces, another new dimension, an impeccable home record, the dramatic late draw at Chelsea, the depth of the squad... the only blip has been the late defeat away to Sporting in the Champions League. If that had ended a draw, the group would have looked so much more favourable. Overall, it feels like it's been a very good start to the season - with the north London derby next..."

Ben: "I would say it's gone as well as we could have possibly hoped for in terms of results. I'm sure if we'd offered this to fans at the start of the season... that we'd be sitting here unbeaten in the Premier League, north London derby on the horizon, everyone would have taken it. We're in a great spot, people are just letting us quietly go about our business and that's what we're doing. Just think about the way we dismantled Leicester in the second half (four goals, won 6-2 last time out), the way we dominated against Southampton, getting over the line when we've needed to, the way we go about set-pieces, we look a ruthless threat. The work rate has been maintained, then you've the likes of Richarlison and the new signings gelling so quickly. It's been a really good start and I think most fans, with the exception of the defeat in Lisbon, would say that most things have clicked into place."

Favourite goal so far...

Ben: "It has to be Sonny's first goal against Leicester. After a bit of a rough patch, to score the goal he did, with that technique, and then see that relief pour out, then he's firing. You know he's going on a run now, he's broken that duck and now he's going to fly. Then, for a moment, think of those front four options, plus Lucas when he comes back from injury, it looks frightening!"

Rob: "Sonny's first goal against Leicester. Of course, that ended his drought. I also think it's one of his best ever for Spurs, when you look at the finish, it had to be so precise to beat Danny Ward, swept around two defenders into the top corner. It was spectacular."

Favourite moment so far...

Rob: "For me, it's Richarlison against Marseille. He hadn't scored before that, had a goal disallowed against Fulham, and it looked like that magic moment was taken away. But then he had an even better one a couple of nights later. He'd talked about dreaming of playing in the Champions League, of only watching it from his sofa, suddenly he's playing in it and scoring two goals. The goals were amazing, that secured the win and the emotion we saw afterwards, everything around that, it was special. And it feels like we've had special moments already, even though we've only had nine games."

Ben: "For me, the Chelsea away game. Honourable mention for Richarlison in the Champions League, and the return of the Champions League to N17, Sonny's hat-trick against Leicester. But it has to be Chelsea. In the past, it's always felt like it's us that concedes the 90th-minute equaliser against Chelsea. But this time, there was a feeling we'd do it. All that matters after that is we're still unbeaten and, in the dying seconds at Stamford Bridge, we managed to find a way. That means so much for this team. We found a way. Could we do that in an important game, away from home? Yes, we could."
