Ellie Brazil surprised students at a local primary school in Leyton on Tuesday as excitement builds ahead of our first Barclays Women’s Super League match at Brisbane Road on Sunday.
Year 6 students from Riverley Primary School – which is located a short walk from Brisbane Road, the new home for Spurs Women - were joined by the England Under-23s international to be put through their paces during a coaching session delivered by our Global Football Development team.
After taking part in the session, the students had the chance to ask Ellie some questions of their own including: who inspired her growing up, what her earliest sporting memories are and her top tips for aspiring footballers.
Ellie surprised the students by handing over tickets to this weekend’s opening league fixture against Liverpool, which is taking place at Brisbane Road on Sunday 16 October (kick-off 2pm).
It was the first of many sessions for our Global Football Development team, who will be delivering in Leyton schools throughout the coming season to drive participation in football amongst girls alongside opportunities to win tickets to Spurs Women matches at Brisbane Road.
Our Global Football Development team showcases the authentic training methods developed within the Club’s Academy, helping young players to reach their full potential.
Speaking after the session, Ellie said: “It was great to come down to Riverley Primary School today and join in with the students during their football class. There were some great skills on show and, hopefully, this will encourage many more young girls to get involved with football. We look forward to seeing as many new faces as possible at our upcoming games at Brisbane Road.”
