At Saturday’s match against Leeds United (kick-off 3pm), the Club will pay its respects to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice in armed conflict and show support for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Ahead of kick-off on Saturday, we shall be joined pitch side by 25 members of our Armed Forces Spurs Official Supporters’ Club, representative of the Army, Navy, and Royal Air Force.
We advise fans to get to their seats as early as possible – our Remembrance service is expected to begin approximately seven minutes before kick-off.
Tottenham Hotspur supporter Squadron Leader Will Brooke Royal Air Force of the Joint Expeditionary Force and Leeds United supporter Staff Sergeant Yvette Kemp of the Royal Army Physical Training Corps will lay poppy wreaths on the centre circle on behalf of both clubs.
Squadron Leader Will Brooke is a season ticket holder and, since 2016, has been Chairperson of the Armed Forces Spurs Official Supporters Club. Will has led on a number of charity activities alongside over 300 members, raising nearly £17,000 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. This is his final season as Chair of Armed Forces Spurs.
A lifelong Leeds United fan, Staff Sergeant Yvette Kemp has served 14 years in the Army, has represented the Army Women’s Football Team and is now the Army Women’s development assistant coach.
We shall then observe a minute’s silence during which the Last Post will be played by Corporal (Retired RAF) Andrew John Lofthouse, former Principal Trumpet of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. The minute’s silence will start and end on the referee’s whistle - fans entering the stadium at this time may be restricted from accessing the seating area while the silence is in progress.
Players will wear special edition shirts emblazoned with the Poppy, which will be signed and auctioned following the match to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
As a further mark of respect, our corner flags at this weekend’s game have been designed to display and honour the names of the former Spurs players who lost their lives across both World Wars.
Our ever-popular Spurs Poppy pin badges are on sale online and at the Tottenham Experience for a donation of £4.99 to the Royal British Legion.
The badge is a testament to the strength of the ongoing relationship between the Club and the Legion – the UK’s leading Service charity, providing practical care, advice, and support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families.
We are also encouraging all fans to share photos of themselves wearing their Poppy badges on social media using the hashtag #SpursRemembers.
