Mark Titchner artwork on display during Leeds match

Artwork from Mark Titchner’s current football-themed exhibition at OOF Gallery will be on display in digital form within the stadium during tomorrow’s game against Leeds United.

In a football first, the Turner Prize-nominated artist’s ‘We Believe In Us’ artwork will be seen across our digital LED ribbons, as well as the big screens at half-time, and exterior screens to inspire the players and convey a sense of togetherness between the team and fans during this crucial match.

The artwork is taken from It’s The Hope That Keeps Us Here – a show that captures the emotions and passion of being a football fan ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, currently on display at OOF Gallery within the Tottenham Experience. 

Titchner is famed for bright and colourful billboard imagery with bold phrases, perhaps most-notably his ‘Please Believe These Days Will Pass’ piece that popped up around London during the COVID pandemic in 2020.

It’s The Hope That Keeps Us Here delivers similarly on glistening mirrors, combined with strobing videos, capturing the belief, joy and passion of football fandom in phrases like ‘we believe in us’, ‘be strong in small things’ and ‘never glorify your weakness’, as well as the disappointment of defeat in ‘you have failed utterly’ and ‘envy the success of others’.

On the prospect of his artwork being seen on display during a Premier League match, Titchner said: “It’s really exciting – I can’t get my head around what it’s going to look like. OOF Gallery is trying to introduce art to people who wouldn’t normally visit an art gallery. For me, art is part of life – part of the streets, part of a football match – whatever it is, art will be there. I’m super excited and feel privileged for this to be happening.”

The shows run until 26 February and is free to enter via the Spurs Shop at the Tottenham Experience, located on Tottenham High Road – opening times as follows:
