Hugo ahead of the derby: ‘We want to make the fans proud!’

Hugo Lloris wants to ‘live a great football night’ as we take on Arsenal this evening (7.45pm kick-off).

We host the Gunners in a huge clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight with victory much needed as we look to keep our challenge for a Champions League spot alive.

The game has the makings of an all-time classic – even more so with it being the first north London derby at our N17 home in front of a capacity crowd – but Hugo knows we will need to be intelligent in how we approach the game and keep the emotions of the occasion in check.

“Hopefully we are going to live a great football night for Spurs,” he smiled. “It will require a lot of focus, a lot of effort. There is a lot on the table for both teams and we have to be ready for this fight

“We have to play in an intelligent way. Obviously, it is a must win game, but we have to respect the plan that we have prepared and with the energy that will be around us from the crowd – we need to use it in the right way and manage the momentum well.

“Emotions are part of football, but it is important to control them in the right moments. I think we just want the fans to be proud after the game of the players, the coaching staff and the Club.”
