What a season we enjoyed in 2021/22!
From kicking-off the campaign in style back in August as, with full-capacity games returning after 18 months of COVID-19 restrictions, we defeated Manchester City in front of a packed-out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to going on to secure our return to the UEFA Champions League with a comprehensive win over Norwich City on the final day of the season, it has certainly been a memorable year.
Indeed, the campaign started with such promise under Nuno Espirito Santos as we won each of our first three Premier League games to sit at the top of the table come the end of August. However, difficulties were met over the next few months with us suffering both domestically and in Europe, so, in November, a decision was taken to move in a new direction with Antonio Conte appointed as our new Head Coach - and he made an immediate impact
Going unbeaten in our first nine league matches under the Italian, we started to find our feet once more as he moulded us into his trademark style. By the time we reached the spring, we were in full flow and went on to finish the campaign with a flourish to seal a return to European football’s elite club competition after two seasons away.
Here is an in-depth look at the numbers behind the campaign…

Four players were involved in 50 of our 53 of our matchday squads (Harry Kane, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Davinson Sanchez and Pierlugi Gollini).
38 – For the second season in a row, Hugo Lloris played in every single minute of our Premier League season. He is the third player in our history to go two consecutive terms ever-present for us after Kasey Keller (2002/03 and 2003/04) and Paul Robinson (2005/06 and 2006/07).
