Pre-season fixtures for newly-named Under-21s

Mon 20 June 2022, 17:00|Tottenham Hotspur

We are pleased to confirm the schedule of pre-season fixtures for our Development Squad, who will this season revert to competing as Under-21s.

From the start of 2022/23, the Premier League 2 will become an Under-21 competition, having previously operated with an Under-23 age limit, to better align with the EFL Trophy and international tournaments.

The team will warm up for the new campaign with a series of friendly matches, beginning on Tuesday 12 July with the traditional trip to near neighbours Enfield Town, whose QEII Stadium is located just a stone’s throw from our Hotspur Way Training Centre. Kick-off will be at 7pm UK.

On Saturday 16 July, our Under-21s will take on League Two side Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road in this year’s JE3 Foundation Trophy fixture, kick-off 1pm UK. The trophy, which is dedicated to the memory of our legendary former defender and ex-Orient manager Justin Edinburgh, was shared last summer following a 1-1 draw between the two clubs’ senior teams, with Orient having defeated our Development Squad to win the inaugural trophy in 2020.

That will be followed with a trip to Billericay Town in Essex on Saturday 23 July, kick-off 6pm UK, with one further away fixture set to be confirmed in due course.

Tickets for all of these matches will be available from the host clubs.

Following these games, we shall return to compete at the annual European Under-21 Tournament in Ploufragan, France over the weekend of 29-31 July before the new Premier League 2 season gets underway.
