Internationals - tough night for Harry, big day for Wales

Harry Kane had few chances to hit his golden 50th international goal as England suffered a 1-0 loss in their UEFA Nations League opener against Hungary on Saturday.

The skipper - reaching cap number 70 in Budapest - had an early sight of goal at 0-0, a curler wide in the first half, and then a late chance to grab an equaliser, this time a snapshot that hit the side-netting. In the end, Dominik Szoboszlai's penalty on 66 minutes proved enough for Hungary. England face Germany away on Tuesday.

Staying in the UEFA Nations League, Troy Parrott (12 caps) started and played 65 minutes as Republic of Ireland lost 1-0 in their opener in Armenia. Eduard Spertsyan scored the only goal of the game in Yerevan.

The qualifying process for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is underway, and Pape Matar Sarr started as reigning champions Senegal beat Benin at the new Stade de Abdoulaye Wade in Diamniadio. Pape (six caps) played the full 90 minutes as a hat-trick from Liverpool's Sadio Mane saw Senegal home 3-1.
