Ben Davies and Joe Rodon helped keep Ukraine at bay as Wales qualified for their first World Cup since 1958 by winning Sunday's play-off final 1-0 on an emotional night in Cardiff.
The pair were outstanding defensively as Ukraine desperately searched for an equaliser in the second half at Cardiff City Stadium. Instead, Gareth Bale's free-kick in the first half, deflected home off Andriy Yarmolenko, proved enough to take Wales through to Qatar in November - where they'll face England, plus USA and Iran in Group B.
Earning his 71st cap, Ben produced a series of blocks in the second half and one outstanding sliding challenge to deny Yarmolenko in front of goal. Joe picked up his 24th cap as both players completed the 90 minutes. Wayne Hennessey also produced two point-blank saves to deny Viktor Tsygankov and Artem Dovbyk. Meanwhile, Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Brennan Johnson all had chances to extend Wales' lead, all to no avail.
Wales weren't to be denied though, and will now take part in the world's biggest tournament 64 years after reaching the quarter-finals in Sweden in 1958, where they were denied by Brazil and a young superstar called Pele, then 17. That Wales squad included three Spurs players - Cliff Jones, Mel Hopkins and Terry Medwin.
