Antonio Conte has outlined what he’s looking for in terms of pre-season work in Korea.
The players were straight into the action after landing in Seoul on Sunday afternoon local time. From the airport, they travelled to Goyang Stadium for the first training session of the tour.
Antonio has the full squad together for the first time this summer after the arrival of our last batch of international players. Preparations continue for the Premier League kick-off against Southampton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 6 August with two matches in the Coupang Play Series here in Korea this week. We take on Team K League in Seoul on Wednesday and Sevilla in Suwon on Saturday (both 12noon UK, 8pm local).
Speaking after the session, Antonio told us: “We started pre-season last week, when we worked very well with the group of players who were with their national teams until the 6th of June. We gave more rest to the players who finished (internationals) around 13th of June. Only today, we had the first training session with the whole team.
“We have to start to work together, to continue to improve our idea of football and, for sure, we are starting not from zero, we have a good base now, and it will be very important to accelerate the process for the new players to come into our ideas.
“This week we will work, double sessions and two matches. It will be a good opportunity for all the players, the whole group, to play and for me to use rotation and to bring these players to be fit.”
